AMPO Research Foundation Request for Proposals

National Compensation Study

The Association of Metropolitan Planning Organizations Research Foundation (AMPO Research Foundation) is a nonprofit federal 501(c)(3) organization established in 2013 with a mission to serve the transportation planning community to improve livability and quality of life in metropolitan regions through the metropolitan planning process. The AMPO Research Foundation is the educational foundation of the Association of Metropolitan Planning Organizations. AMPORF is interested in conducting a national compensation survey to better understand hiring and retention practices in the MPO industry.

MPO Institute: MTP Deep Dive

The MPO Institute, the newest program of the AMPO Research Foundation (AMPORF), supports the evolving role of MPOs, addresses the need for MPO-centric training, and provides content to tackle the challenges posed by retirements and staff retention. The Institute serves as a unique national training where courses are developed in coordination with MPO practitioners to ensure courses cover not just requirements, but also real-life practice.

Launched on July 1, 2024, the Institute began with three foundational courses: New and Graduated MPOs, MPO 101, and Federal Funding. The Institute is interested in continuing to create courses as well as maintaining the current courses available.
